Banks must warn central bank of hacker attacks from Sunday

MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- Russian banks and operators of payment services infrastructure must inform FinCERT, an information security arm of the country’s central bank, of hacker attacks and their technical parameters from Sunday, the regulator said on Thursday.

“They earlier did it voluntarily,” the central bank said.

The Justice Ministry registered on June 22 an order of the central bank that made a requirement for banks to inform the regulator of attacks of cybercriminals obligatory.

The central bank will use the information for elaboration of recommendations for participants of the financial market to resist revealed cyber threats, comprising such activities as unsanctioned money remittances, breaches into regularity of payment services, and the like.

The document introduces a number of requirements for protection of information of banks, which are obliged to use only certified software and test it regularly.
